Poll workers are the people who staff Election Day precincts and Early Voting sites. They perform the actual work of opening and closing the voting site, checking in voters, issuing ballots, and handing out stickers. They also help keep voters safe and ensure that the rules are followed.
Poll workers have different roles within the voting site. This chart from the Cumberland County Board of Elections does a great job explaining the different positions.
You can also contact your county Board of Elections to apply and learn more about where they need help!
Are you one of the 80,000 voters that need to provide additional identifying information to your County Board of Elections? Look yourself up here to see if you need to “repair.” If you need help or have questions, call the nonpartisan voter help line at 888-OUR-VOTE (888-687-8683).The Registration Repair Project is an effort by the State Board of Elections to collect identification numbers from registered voters who do not have an N.C. driver’s license/DMV ID number or social security number in the state’s voter registration database.
