NCVPA focuses on the systems, decisions, and actions that determine who can vote, how elections are run, and whether the process is fair and trustworthy. Our work is year-round and statewide, with an emphasis on local impact.
We monitor election administration at the state and county level, with particular attention to Boards of Elections. NCVPA works to promote transparency, lawful decision-making, and fair administration so that elections are run consistently and without partisan interference.
We help coordinate the on-the-ground infrastructure that protects voters before, during, and after elections. This includes supporting poll observers, poll workers, legal volunteers, and rapid response efforts when problems arise at voting sites or during ballot counting.
When election laws are misused, selectively enforced, or ignored, NCVPA calls it out. We track patterns of misconduct, raise public concerns, and support appropriate complaints, protests, or legal action to ensure accountability.
Bad information undermines confidence in elections and discourages participation. NCVPA works to provide clear, accurate information about how elections actually work and to respond quickly when false or misleading narratives are used to confuse or suppress voters.
Rather than rebuilding voter protection efforts from scratch every election cycle, NCVPA is focused on building lasting capacity. We invest in people, relationships, and systems that strengthen voter protection over the long term and across election cycles.
